Fashion Looks We’re Saying Goodbye to in 2020
Let’s face it, a lot of people have a problem throwing things away. When it comes to clothes, I’m sure most fashionistas have overflowing wardrobes for just this reason. They may look at items they’ve had and not worn for years and are reluctant to throw them away because they are still in good shape. Perhaps they have grown to have sentimental value as well.
Well if you are trying to clean out your wardrobe and are having trouble finding things to eliminate, this article may help you out. These are the items that are decidedly out in 2020. If you have them hanging in your closet, it may be time to send them packing.
Cropped Flared Jeans
The look of flared jeans was a popular ‘indie kid look’ over the past couple of years. Now we are saying goodbye to that style in favor of a cut that is wide-legged throughout. This is the first switch you should be making for your ‘wear this not that’ 2020 updates.
Denim jackets are a fashion statement that will never go out of style, so I wouldn’t throw them out if I were you. However, you may just want to put them in storage for the year. In 2020, try opting for leather jackets instead. Bold colors and oversized fits will reign supreme.
Off the Shoulder Tops
Off the shoulder tops make for a sexy look that designers attempted to resurrect over the last few years. Although it was a valiant effort, I think many women realized why they left them in the dust back in the 80’s…they’re just not comfortable. I mean, most women don’t want to be constantly tugging at their sleeves throughout the day. In 2020, go for a puffed sleeve look instead.
Boilersuits also briefly resurfaced. A tribute to the grunge era, this unisex one-piece outfit look is cute, but maybe it was just too hard to go to the bathroom while wearing one?? In any case, fashion gurus say this style is so last year. Replace it with a jumpsuit or a good old-fashioned three-piece.
The belt bag or fanny pack look is another 80’s style that is proving not to have much longevity in the 2000’s. It is convenient for working out, but other than that, opt for the tote bag instead. Tote bags are roomier and they won’t break up the line of your outfit.
The re-emergence of neons will live on in 2020. However, lime green is a shade that seems to have worn out it’s welcome. If you want to capture the bright tone, try hot pink instead. Alternately, if you just love the color green, try Biscay green. It’s a lot softer and it can even work as a neutral.
Bermuda shorts made for a great preppy look but if you want to recreate something similar this year, lose the pleats and go for shorts that are loose fitting and straight throughout. High waisted, shorter baggy looks are also a go for 2020.
Now that you know what’s in and out this year, what will you be eliminating from your wardrobe?
