Style Tips for the Older Woman

Nobody likes to think about getting older, but it does happen. The trick is to grow old gracefully and part of that is adapting to a new wardrobe.

Getting older doesn’t mean forgoing style. In fact, it is important for older women to keep on top of relevant styles to look as chic as possible. But some adaptations do need to be made.

With that in mind, read on to find out about the fashion tips that apply to older women.

Embrace Color

Just because you’re older, that doesn’t mean you have to shy away from color. In fact, color will make up for any of that natural blush your skin has lost over the years.

When it comes to color, anything goes. Of course, it’s best to continue wearing colors that best complement your complexion. Beyond that, royal blues, bright pinks and vivid greens are all big time yeses.

Jeans

Jeans are not only for young women. These wardrobe staples can stay with us as time goes by.

To look impressive in your jeans as you get older, make sure they have a flattering fit. Darker washes are also favorable to older women.

Opt for Daintier Jewelry

While statements necklaces can look good on older women, you want to wear them in moderation and go with more feminine styles. However, to stay on the safe side, daintier pieces will always work. Stick with chain bracelets and necklaces and thin bangles to produce an elegant and classic vibe that works well for women of any age.

Go For Staple Pieces

Staple pieces are called that for a reason. In general, they have a classic look that works with any age and any style. Items like blazers, blouses, wrap dresses, knee length skirts and black slacks will provide a great look no matter how old you get. Be sure to have a few variations of these items in your wardrobe.

Define the Waist

As we get older, many of us deal with problem areas. However, wearing sloppy clothing that bags over these areas will only add to bulk and provide an unkept appearance that can be especially unflattering on an older woman.

Defining your waist will produce a slimmer, neater look. Be sure to go for outfits and dresses with a defined waistline. A peplum can be even more flattering when added to this look.

Don’t Be Afraid of Prints

Bold colors should not be avoided and neither should bold prints. A nice print will take your outfit to the next level and will show you are not afraid of taking risks. Anything from florals to bold geometrics to animal prints are perfectly acceptable and any age.

Not many people look forward to getting older but wearing the right clothes will give you a fashionable look that takes wow to the next level. What adjustments do you recommend making to suit a mature wardrobe?
