It’s official…the holiday season is in full swing. With so much going on, and so many parties happening, the question on everyone’s mind will be, what should I wear? Well, never fear because we have holiday outfits that are right for any occasion.
Determine the Formality of the Occasion
Christmas parties can vary in the formality of the occasion. If you are going to a cocktail party, you may want to wear a cocktail dress. If it’s an office party, you may want to go for a slightly dressy professional look. If the party is just you and a few close friends, a pair of slacks and a nice sweater may be in order.
Once you have determined how fancy the party is, go from there to find an outfit that is right. Here are some ideas that may inspire you.
A Cocktail Dress
Cocktail dresses are typically short (no longer than knee length) and tight fitting. They usually feature some sort of detailing that makes them dressier that the average dress.
A cocktail dress is great for the holidays because you won’t need to pair it with any other clothing. Just accessorize with heels (heels are a must for cocktail dresses) glittery jewelry, and the right evening bag.
Office Party Looks
If you are invited to an office party, think of what you wear to the office and take it up a notch. If you wear dresses to the office, wear one that’s a bit dressier than the norm. Skirts and blouse more your thing? Dress them up with pieces that offer more detail and glittery elements. If you are a slacks and blouse type of gal, go for a shiny blouse and a fitted pair of slacks.
It may not be a good idea to get too sexy at office parties. Sure, you may be eyeing that mini and low cut blouse you never get to wear, but think of how you will feel wearing it in front of your boss and colleagues.
Casual Parties with Friends
If you are having a small get together with family and friends, you may not need to go all out by dressing up, but it’s a good idea to bring a little bit of bling. After all, you don’t want people to forget that this is a party!
When hosting a small affair, it’s perfectly acceptable to wear a pair of jeans and a nice pair of slacks, but dress it up with a great looking top. Think of adding something in black or a jewel tone that goes well with the winter theme. Details like gems, lace and ruffles will make your look stand out.
It just isn’t Christmas unless you bring the bling. One surefire way to do this is to wear sparkly jewelry. You don’t have to go overboard (although no one’s stopping you) but gemmed earrings, a subtle necklace or a tennis bracelet are accessories that will make the seasons bright. You can even wear Christmas themed jewelry like candy cane earrings or a Merry Christmas bracelet.
If you are going dressy, an attractive evening bag is a must. Evening bags are typically small and glitzy and are often clutches though some have glamorous chains that make them easy to carry. Think of getting something that is as small as possible but still has room for your cell phone and wallet.
Heels are also often a necessary part of a Christmas look. They are a must for cocktail dresses, and they can also dress up more casual outfits.
Many high heels are open which makes them difficult to wear in the cold winter weather. However, a pair of high heeled boots will also work well with many holiday outfits.
Nothing will bring the holiday spirit quite like wearing Christmas items. Christmas leggings are big this year and they are sure to make a splash at casual holiday parties. They are also great for running errands around town, doing some seasonal shopping and even for working off all the extra calories you will be consuming.
The Christmas season always brings a lot of fun. Wearing great clothing can make your celebrations even more a splash. What items will you be wearing to take the party to eleven?
