Okay men, let’s talk about the subject you always wanted to know about but were too embarrassed to ask about, underwear.
Admit it, when you go to pick out a pair of underwear, you have no idea what you’re looking for. In time, you might figure out what brands and styles are the most comfortable, but if you’re a newbie, the only way to tell is to (gasp) ask someone or trial and error.
And even if you are more experienced you may still be missing out on the best brands because, hey, if it’s not broke, why fix it?
Well, in this article we are going to tell you everything you need to know about underwear, and more.
Briefs, Boxers or Boxer Briefs
Spoiler alert! Okay, we’re just going to get right to it. If you are trying to figure out which of these three wins, it’s boxer briefs.
Boxer briefs are a ladies first choice when it comes to attractive underwear, which should be enough right there.
But more than that, they provide more support than boxers and while briefs may be more supportive, it has been proven that they can offer too much support. Briefs have been shown to restrict sperm flow which can lead to reproductive issues as you get older.
Boxer briefs also wrap around the leg to prevent thigh chafing.
What to Look for in a Boxer Brief
Now that we’ve determined that boxer briefs are the way to go, let’s talk about how to find the boxer brief that’s right for you.
Size: Small, medium, large, how do you know what size is right for you? Well, here’s a little secret. Underwear sizes go by hip measurements.
To measure your hips, stand with your feet together and measure around the widest part of your hips. The measurements should be listed on the package so you’ll be able to go from there to find the size that’s right for you.
Length: Boxers can also be measured by length. Most boxers are 6” long but you can also opt for 9” which are recommended to prevent chafing. 4.5” are short and sexy.
Material: There are also several materials you can choose from. These are as follows:
· Cotton: Cotton is durable, breathable and comfortable. It absorbs sweat and moisture, though not excessively so it may not be best for workouts. It also won’t shrink in the wash.
· Nylon: Nylon is soft on skin and it is more absorbent than cotton so it’s great for workouts. It is also easy to wash and dries quickly.
· Modal: Modal is even more absorbent than nylon and it’s a nice soft material. However, it doesn’t offer as much support as cotton and nylon.
· Polyester is a go-to if you prefer underwear that is thin and not bulky. A downside is that it’s not very absorbent.
Style: You will also want to choose underwear that suits your style. Go for a color or print you like to feel good about getting dressed each day.
Underwear may not be the easiest thing for a man to talk about, but knowing the types you like will help you find the pairs that suit you best. What do you look for in your undergarments?
